Thomas Alexander Farn Loosley - LTM#1
T. F. Loosley awarding Birdie at TAv7
Thomas Alexander Farn Loosley has embraced the Amateurs perhaps more than any other man in its history and so it is a great honour to pen this tribute to the Taupo Amateurs first Lifetime Member.
A founding contender, Thomas has experienced both the soaring highs and the debilitating lows that come with this annual event. After not coping well early in Amateurs history to a crushing team defeat he spat the dummy, refusing to wash this dishes and instead decided to shout all contestants Lonestar. Early in his Xero career & flush with small business owners’ cash he had found the perfect solution and created what would have been the moment of the weekend had the award existed that early in the tournament’s history. He was also able to pick himself up from this speed bump and manage to claim what he so lusted after. In 2018, after 5 years of trying, Thomas lifted birdie to the heavens in the Spotlight offices on Wellesley St, just off Nelson St, after a controversial call back had found his colleague had been incorrectly awarded the trophy do to the quirks of slope handicaps. It was then his life’s honour to captain his dearest sniffers in Edition 6. of the Taupo Amateurs and lead them to a glorious victory in the most tightly contested shield challenge yet. It was said his inspired captaincy and astute captains picks for the playoff hole could well have been the difference between the teams.
Thomas has been an integral member of the Amateurs family and has taken it upon himself to welcome in all rookie Amateurs each year, briefing them on the customs & lore and guiding them to the Taupo Amateurs Tome to read about battles from previous years.
He is the glue that binds us, a man never to miss an event, never to give up the ghost, a man that will fight to the end.
sniffers for life
