Amateur Legacy

The Veterans’ Cup

  • Upon qualifying for Veteran status* at the Taupo Amateurs players will enter into The Veterans’ Cup.

    • Veterans will claim a Hole at Turangi to burnish their legacy making this their signature hole.

    • Scalps are collected from all players they beat on their hole NET (rumble tiebreaks in play)

    • The Veteran with the most scalps from their hole will hoist the Cup

    * Veteran status is earned once a player gains 1,500 experience points

  • honour of hosting the Champions at the Champion Table

  • honour of hosting the snake bitten in the Snake Pit for the Champions Banquet

    • Players will select their hole based on Amateur Experience

    • Once a hole is claimed the Veteran claims the hole’s rights. However a challenge can be made for any hole by a Veteran that covets that hole.

    • LTM’s will receive Tenure on the holes and cannot be unseated. However Veterans can play these holes under them if they so choose.

    • If a player covets another player’s hole he may challenge for hole rights

      • To win the hole off the current holder the player must win more scalps on the hole than the holder

        • However, the challenger cannot claim scalps already claimed by the holder & so only receives scalps of those he beats that the holder did not. This will reduce their chances to win the current years cup but may give them a foot hold for future years.

    • All time scalps will be the decider, else;

    • In the event of a tie at the conclusion of the Tournament a chip off will be held on the 18th. Closest to the Pin will prevail

  • A dowry has been established for each Virgin (or un-birdied) hole at the Amateurs.
The dowries are paid into each year until the hole has been claimed.
$1/hole Entry fee into this event has been paid through your Subs.

The 18th at Turangi is the Event’s signature hole & remains innocent. As this hole offers extra special significance a minimum dowry for this hole of $5 per player has been paid.

  • Birdying a virgin hole will pop its cherry & release the dowry to the claimant

  • Any player to triple bogey (or worse) on a Virgin hole will be asked to add an additional $10 to the dowry in penance for sullying the hole.

Virgin Holes

Holes yet to be conquered with a bird at the Amateurs have a dowry attached to their purity. $1 is requested to play a Virgin Hole & a $10 fine will be administered to any to do worse than triple bogey the hole. A birdy will claim the dowry.

After each tournament, $5 from each dowry along with half of any triple bogey penances will be placed on the hole’s number at SkyCity Casino’s Roulette table. Proceeds will be returned to the Dowry.*
