Captains’ Responsibilities

  • Fees are set per team but split into 3 sections depending on your attendance.

    1. Turangi Rumble $160

    2. The Amateurs Open $250

    3. The Amateur Afterparty (RSVP’s essential)

    Fees cover Golf costs & administration along with subsidised F&B at all three events. See each event page for more details.

  • The main prizes have been organised by the committee. However, each hole contest is up for sponsorship & we encourage unique, thoughtful & interesting prizes put forward that do justice to the event & challenge sponsored.

    Prizes need not be pricey but should be be good. Additional promotion on course is permitted pending committee approval.

  • Captains are responsible for their teams accommodation.

    The committee recommends booking accomodation in Taupo with the Amateur Afterparty being held at 2 Mile Bay Sailing Club.

    Buses will be provided for those interested between Taupo & Turangi on Saturday only. Provide your own transport to the Turangi Rumble

  • Teams will compete for Best Dressed at the Open. Captains should organise Team kit & compete strongly for this award lest the blow out & win the Award for Worst Dressed

  • Players must be able to go around 9 holes in under 65 to participate in the Open. This is for speed of play purposes.

    Handicaps will be assessed & confirmed by the committee. If you & your team mates have official handicaps then please add Thomas Howard as a friend on golf.co.nz so he may access your recent rounds.

    If you do not have a handicap, a minimum of 3 rounds will be requested to input into the Amateurs capping system STFU-C. This will be requested in the final registration email 1st February.

  • Coffee cart will be on site from 11am each day at the clubhouse.

    Post match food will be available from the Clubhouse on Friday with each team provided a bar snack platter

    On Saturday a Food Truck will be on site serving tasty morsels from the Gazebo bordering the 10th & 15th tees, 14th & 16th greens.

    Pizza’s will be included as part of your Amateur Afterparty ticket.

    Cash bars will operate at the Golf Club & a bar tab will kick off the afterparty at 2M Sailing Club

  • Both rounds will be scored using google sheets. It’s essential all captains have downloads the Sheets app to their phone & received their scoresheet prior to arriving at the course.

    Each team has their own scoresheet that will present eliminations & leaderboards in near live time, depending on cell coverage. Please ensure you have an understanding of the scoresheet before beginning your round.

  • Prizegiving will be held at 2 mile Sailing Club at 7.30pm. Whilst there will be many awards the prizegiving will be restricted to 15 minutes.
